2009 MTV VMA’s

On Sunday September 13th 2009, the greatest award show I ever seen was shown.

A lot of controversy came upon us when Kanye West grabbed the microphone out of Taylor Swift’s hand and said that Beyonce’s video was superior. Poor Taylor Swift, shocked by what has just happened and had the guts to go on and perform ten minutes later. Kanye’s such an idiot, I mean was that really necessary? I think that this act was in favor for Taylor Swift because more people like her now. Although I thought that “Single Ladies” was more impressive, “You Belong With Me” was a pretty good video. Kanye West is going to get it hard but I will still love his music.

Lady Gaga’s performance was AMAZING! She’s one of the top performers of our time. Her “Paparazzi” performance was hit out of the park. When the blood was dripping from her body I was sold. I thought her performance was very creative and gutsy. I just love Lady Gaga even more after this performance.

Other phenomenal performances included, Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”, Green Day’s “East Jesus Nowhere”, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” and Pink’s “Sober”.

I think all this madness masked the Michael Jackson tribute. First, we have Madonna making a speech about her relationship with The King of Pop. Then we have dancers dancing to Michael’s biggest hits. Then we had his sister Janet perform. It was a good tribute.

The top winners include Beyonce, Green Day and Lady Gaga, all going home with 3 Moonmen. They are all my favorite artists!

Lady Gaga vs. Katy Perry

Lady Gaga vs. Katy Perry, something that everyone has been talking about, but who is my favorite?

I’m going to put in perspective their music, live performances, style, and music videos to see which girl I prefer.

First lets start with the music, the most important part.

Katy Perry’s One of the Boys is in your face, catchy, and vulgar. Katy had us in her daze when “I Kissed a Girl” came onto the radio. We were all wondering about her sexuality. One thing that singers want is for people to talk about her songs so I think this was in her favor. Katy had songs on her album that were kind of provocative for example “Ur So Gay”. Everyone likes her and she had one of the best songs of the year 2008. I only have one favorite song from Katy Perry and it is “Waking Up In Vegas”. I like the song because it’s fun. Most of Katy Perry’s songs are fun.

Lady Gaga’s The Fame is different, crazy, and can’t get out of your head. “Just Dance” is just one of the many hits that Lady Gaga has. “Poker Face” was the greatest hit she had. Lady Gaga doesn’t just sing she also writes her own songs for other people. My favorite song from this CD is “Paparazzi”. I like it because it reminds me of the life of celebrities and it’s a bit different from her other songs because it’s a bit slower.

ROUND 1 – LADY GAGA

  

It’s one thing to sound good on a Cd but it’s another to sound good live.

Both of these singers sang on the stage of American Idol. I wasn’t expecting much of both of them but I was really surprised by one of them.

Katy Perry also sang at the Grammy’s last year. She’s really bad. I can’t say anything more.

Lady Gaga graces the stage with her amazing and surprising voice. I wasn’t expecting to hear that voice coming out of her. The new version of “Poker Face” that she sang on American Idol was one of the most amazing performance ever!

ROUND 2 – LADY GAGA

 

You can’t be a celebrity without having your own style.

Both of these ladies have their own distinctive style.

Katy Perry has a quirky style. One day she’s wearing fruits another day she’s wearing a elegant dress. Style doesn’t only have to reflect in what they wear but how you present yourself. Katy really wants to be the center of attention. I don’t like when people beg for the center of attention but she pulls it off.

Lady Gaga has a futuristic style. She wears crystallisation things that don’t really look good. She also begs for attention. But one of these ladies begs it a bit more and that’s Katy.

ROUND 3 – KATY PERRY

 

Last but certainly not least music videos. Music videos help singers show their personalities through creativity.

Katy Perry made funny videos. The one that I liked the most is “Hot n’ Cold”. The wedding scene at the beginning is really hilarious. She made other videos but they weren’t that good.

Lady Gaga made her share of music videos. I find that Lady Gaga tells better stories then Katy Perry. The video that I’m talking about is “Paparazzi”. It is my favorite video.

Beyonce’s Videos Seen It Before

Hey everyone, I never thought in my whole life that I would talk bad about Beyonce. On Thursday May 21st, Beyonce’s video premiere of “Ego” was released. I was expecting high hopes but Miss Bey let me down. First we see the beautiful Beyonce with curly hair standing near a wall. Then two girls popping out behind her dancing. As everyone noticed, “Single Ladies” and “Diva” both had Beyonce and two girls in the background dancing. Another thing is it’s also all in black & white.

 Beyonce has it all, the looks, the voice, the style, and the attitude. She is my favorite female singer of all-time. She let me down big time when I saw this video. It’s getting old.

Now let me talk about the good things. I can’t stand myself talking bad about her anymore. The song “Ego” is original and catchy. The lyrics are great and make the song have it’s own flare. My favorite line of the song is “He can walk like this caz he can back it up”. Too bad the video doesn’t measure up.

Zac’s Top 5

This is going to be a new segment on the site called Zac’s Top 5. I will be talking about my top 5 favorite things in the music business. This week I will be talking about my top 5 artists that I would like to see live in concert.

1. Beyonce Knowles- This ones a no brainer. Beyonce’s concert’s are really amazing. First off she can sing and dance at the same time!!! She adds personality and flare to everything she does. Fav Song –> Halo

2. Green Day- I have an R&B side and a Rock side. Green Day absolutely brings out my rock side. I love their songs and the presence they put in their live shows. They are fun and moving with the rocker edge. Fav Song –> 21 Guns

3. Kanye West- Even though he’s an ego maniac, Kanye West can sing. He has good music and a great stage presence. He would be fun to go see. Fav Song –> Paranoid

4. All American Rejects- I liked the AAR from the beginning. They are goofy and rock-and-roll. It will be really awsome to watch them live. Fav Song –> Gives You Hell

5. Black Eyed Peas- With Will-i-am and Fergie, how can u go wrong. It will be an amazing show. With their cooky style and their big voices it is bound to be the best. –> Boom Boom Pow

No Hope For Danity Kane

         At the end of Making The Band 4 season 3 Diddy anounced that Aubrey and D’woods were out of the group. Now in the fourth season of Making the Band 4, only group member, Dawn, seems to be wanting to continue with the group. Welcome To The Dollhouse, is one of the best cd’s out there. I have a lot of favorite songs on the album, including, “Sucka For Love”, “Poetry”, and “Pretty Boy”. These Diddy girls were the best things out there. Their good looks, sweet voices, and groovy beats led them onto the charts and into people’s hearts. The split between the group was because of little cliques in between the group. I don’t think there’s hope for Danity Kane. Although, Dawn, Aundrea, and Shannon are great,  all of them together are a dream. As for the other groups on Making The Band 4, they’re wondering if their career is on the line. Danity Kane was bigger than Day 26 and Donnie Klang. I think Diddy is making a really huge mistake. Danity Kane is “Damaged”. I love Diddy and I respect him but this is a really horrible descision.

Let me tell you about these girls:

Aubrey: Aubrey is the sex symbol. As you know she posed for playboy and there was rumoured a sex tape featuring her. She brought style to the group. She brought out the group in interviews, for example the Tyra Banks show. We followed her from the beginning and we loved her, it’s sad to see her leave.

Dawn: Dawn is the one with the most talent. She can sing and dance the best. I like her but she’s not my favorite. There’s something about her that’s star quality. If you watched the show Dawn was Diddy’s favorite. If anything Dawn should go solo.

Shannon: Shannon brings her own special thing to the group, I really don’t know what it is but I really like her. I feel bad because she has to stand out from all these big characters. It puts her in the back of the group. She has an amazing voice. She’s the only member that is married.

D’Woods: D’ is cool, relaxed, and awsome. D’ and Aubrey were the best of friends. D’ has great dance moves. D’ and Aubrey were both cut off from the group. If anything I thought Diddy would just kick out Aubrey.

Aundrea: I saved the best for last. Aundrea is my favorite out of the five. She has a unique voice that stands out from the group. Nothing else I can say!

Human

“Are we human or are we dancers”

The killers new single is “Human”. This song is catchy and moving. I always liked the killers but this is my favorite song from this band.  This song is from their album Day & Age. Which was released on November 24th, 2008. The music video takes place at Goblin Valley State Park in Utah. This is different from their other songs because i find it more of a dance song because of it’s beat. Let me know what you think. Comment!

Beyonce Returns!

“if you like it then you should’ve put a ring on it”

Beyonce returns with two new songs including “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” and “If I Were a Boy”. Personally my favorite song is Single Ladies. It’s catchy and has a good beat. She has already made videos for both songs. “Single Ladies” is Beyonce dancing with two other girls, some of the dance moves were inspired by Tina Turner. “If I Were A Boy” is about what Beyonce would’ve done if she was the boy in the relationship. Both songs are fantastic. They are both featured on, released on November 18th, I Am…Sasha Fierce.
